Ok Day - Blah Week, Blah Year

Caught some of the up move this morning in the ES and NQ for a net total of +160.00. Too bad that only brought my weekly profitability up to +60 bucks net (and after commissions probably nothing). I just had to work out some of the issues earlier in the week but now I think i'm going to be doing just fine. Only a couple more weeks left in May and I need to be solid by the end of the month.

In other news - today is my Birthday which means one thing that's relative to this blog. By Age 23 failed. I'm 23 right now and I didn't accomplish a single one of my goals. I should be happy and joyous today for my birthday but i'm not. A year wasted? Maybe not. I've learned a lot but at some point i've actually got to start making money and being successful at this or I need to choose another profession. I have until June to be profitable enough to start paying myself a salary every two weeks. If I can't manage that i'm gonna have to throw in the towel for the time being. I think I can manage it but i'm going to have to step up my game in a serious way in the next couple of weeks. So hopefully we can just rename the blog By Age 24 in our minds and try again this year.

Weekly Net Profit: +60.00

Trade Results:

ES: +100.00
NQ: +60.00

Happy b-day! Don't worry man, a lot of people get into this game at a much later age and do just fine; just look at Don Miller! You have a head start and plenty of time to make millions :)

Happy Birthday Matt!

Don't get discouraged so soon, it takes time to master this business. There have been enough studies done that report it takes 10,000 hours actual time on the job, to 10 years according to Dr. Steenbarger. People who work with mentors tend to cut that time down considerably.

The most important thing, NEVER GIVE UP!

Hang in there, you can do it.

Matt,
You're WAY ahead of most people who try this profession. You're doing great IMO. Keep it up!

Matt, knock that shit off! :) You've been doing stellar. Goals are just there to move you in the right direction and you're certainly headed that way. If you can help it, try not to put that extra pressure on yourself by requiring the bills to be paid from trading in two weeks; that's a tough ultimatum to deal with psychologically. NEVER GIVE UP, man. No matter what - you've got talent for this! If you have to go flip burgers at night so you can pay bills while you keep working on your trades then so be it. Like the others have already said, you are well on your way and miles ahead of others who get started much later in life. For hell's sake, I'm nearly 32, I've got 3.5 kids, a needy but lovely wife and tons of bills. I hate my day job and all I think about is being a trader. I'll be damned if anything gets in my way permanently. Temporarily of course, but you never fail until you quit. Look on the bright side, you've made it another year and you still have cash in your account - a feat only few can claim!

On another note, Happy Birthday!! :)

Sorry to spoil the party here but unless you are profitable in a way you can support a family with mortgage etc.
it is not realistic to continue this venture. A lot of people lack a sense of realism in the blogosphere about their abilities.
I am sorry to say this but trading is not the easy way out of getting a good degree or MBA.
With 24 sure you have 6 or 12 month left before I think it is time to pull the line but complacency is a dangerous animal.
There is a reason why your numbers are not that great, fix it or move on ... trading is nothing personal but chasing after a ghost would be stupid.

I have to agree with the before comment, it took me 2 years to become realy profitable ...100K plus
and was close more than once to call it quits but I have to emphasize that
100K profits p.a. is a minimum goal otherwise this is NOT your calling.
You are not a fund manager who breathes by the relative numbers of a benchmark ... you need to create wealth, savings etc. and with 1200 bucks a week or something in that area... it ain´t worth it LT
